Get ready for one of the most intense and exciting days of summer hockey! The SLO Hockey Ironman Tournament is back — a high-octane 3-on-3 roller hockey showdown where short benches, quick shifts, and non-stop action put every player’s endurance and skill to the test.

New this year: We’re excited to introduce an Adult Division, so players of all ages can get in on the Ironman experience.

Whether you're a youth player or adult competitor, this is your chance to push your limits, compete with friends, and experience the thrill of Ironman-style hockey right here in SLO.

• Game Structure: Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 4 games, with 2 x 8-minute periods per game

If you are the captain of a team, use the team registration to create your team and register yourself.  Other players can then register and select the team.

If you are looking to register as a free agent or partial team, use the free agent registration option and optionally input a team name.

Payment can be made online at the time of registration or paid later.

⚙️ Who Can Play?

This tournament is open to recreational and competitive youth players in the 10U and 14U age groups and the new Adult Open division for players 15 and up.  Age divisions are by birth year - 2014 and younger birth year for 10U, 2010 birth year and younger for 14U, 2009 birth year and older for Adult. Teams are built for speed, stamina, and chemistry — just 3 skaters and a goalie take the floor at a time, with an optional sub on the bench.

📖 Rules & Format

Each game slot is 20 minutes total, including:

• 1-minute warmup

• Two 8-minute running time periods

• 1-minute intermission

⚠️ Stop time will be enforced in the final minute of the game if the score is within 1 goal.

All games are 3-on-3, with teams consisting of 4–5 total players (3 skaters, 1 goalie, and an optional sub).

🥅 After Goals & Stoppages

• The defending team retrieves the puck from their net or spot of stoppage.

• The new defending team must touch up at the center line and cannot apply pressure until the referee signals the play is live.

• The attacking team must bring the puck behind their goal line before advancing.

🚨 Penalties

• Referee signals a penalty with a raised arm, then lowers it—no whistle on change of possession.

• If the possessing team commits a penalty, the ref will blow the whistle, and the opposing team will begin play from behind their own net.

• No power plays — instead, all penalties are recorded and resolved with penalty shots at the end of the game.

• Even if penalty shots don’t impact the final score, they count toward goal differential for tiebreakers.

🏆 Tournament Format

• Follows RHA/NARCh-style point system:

  • 2 points for a win

  • 1 point for a tie

  • 0 for a loss

• Tiebreakers:

  • Head-to-head (all teams in question must have played each other)

  • Goals against

  • Goals for

  • If still tied: 4-man shootout

• Round robin games can end in a tie.

• Playoff games will be decided by continuous sudden death overtime.
